i just wanted to ask whats the better option to get from bangkok to chiang mai. the train or one of the tourist busses?

The night-train (ca.550Baht) is more comfortable, but also more expensive then the busses(200-600Baht). In the night-train you can have a "nice" bed and sleep well. The is bus is faster, but sometimes very painful. It depence on the quality. A other option is take a domestic flight. In Thailand are a lot of cheap Airlines, i.e. at the moment airasia promotion domestic flight 99Baht or with one-two-go airlines promotion domestic flight 299Baht.
