What is the cheapest option for international calls in Thailand? 
Shall I bring my mobile or just use public phones?

I agree with Thompson. I used happy. Very cheap and an easy deployment of the card. For me it was a great decision to bring my mobile. Much easier to stay in touch with other travelers (if you want to). Besides, some calls and some sms to europe did cost me less than 4€.
I call with my SKYPE-account to the neatherland, i pay only 1,7 euro-cent for one minute!
Buy a internaional phonecard in the Seven, 10 Baht per Minute to Europe or you buy a prepaid card like "12call", "happy" .... than you pay ballpark 8 Baht. But ve to dial a eight after the two zeros like 008..... wenn you dial 001 it is more expensive but the connection is better. "12call" also costlier than "happy" but the connection is much better.
